Purple haired massage therapist!

Ashley stafford

Feel free to read a shorter version here

Ashley graduated from Harris in 2010 but she didn’t always have purple hair. She has had many mentors, including Dr. Lipton D.O. and her myofascial teacher Ann Wilkinson P.T. Learning various physical therapy techniques, and translating them to massage, the two years spent with Ann have shaped and influenced Ashley’s life. Understanding the effects that massage therapy can have on someones life, she takes the time to educate her clients about exercises and stretches they can do at home to decrease/manage pain.

After helping a beloved friend during labor, and subsequently helping her aunt, Ashley has been passionate about decreasing labor pains through massage therapy.

Having the opportunity to live, practice, and teach in Mexico, she was also a manager at the Dojo Tao in Guanajuato. While in Mexico, she taught energy work series alongside the owner of the dojo, Beatrice.  Teaching alongside an experienced teacher, Ashley expanded her practice and honed her teaching skills.

Coming back to states Ashley renewed her license and received Board Certification for massage therapy. She also completed a Thai Yoga Massage Certification, DNM (DermoneuroModulating) Certification, Sports Massage Certification, Myofascial release (level III), a cupping course, a sports cupping course, and is in the process of completing  an Orthopedic Assessment Massage Certification and Rehabilitation specialization.

Ashley has been offering her “Massage for the Self and Others” workshop, as well as several other workshops, at local festivals, some of which include PEX Summer Fest, Return to Roots Gathering, May Flora Fest, Flame Festival, NEEF Festival, and Be The Strange.

If you have tried everything send Tranquil Therapy an email and see how massage can help improve the quality of your life.

Continuing education is a big deal to Ashley and the result of this has left her certifications in: Myofascial release (MOM 1+2), Reiki, DNM (dermoneuroModulating), Thai massage (level 1), sports massage, Ayurvedic foot massage, Myofascial Release, and is currently finishing a Orthopedic Massage Certification and Rehabilitation Specialization. Estimated time to complete is 2019 for both as well as a sports massage and cupping class! This is when the purple hair came to be, finally able to dress and impress, her way.

2014- 2018, Ashley was working at University of Pennsylvania, 12 fit spa in Lowe’s Hotel, and her own practice in Center City Philadelphia, In 2018 her office moved to fishtown where all of those beautiful turquoise pictures were taken, she left UPenn but still helped out with events, as well all other residencies. in 2019 there came a huge change and Ashley moved to Knoxville TN but decided to come back to philly and work in the Fishtown Wellness Center but after a year the overwhelming response to get onto the table more often was incredible and Tranquil Therapy is now in it’s own studio again!

So many changes but one things stayed the same, the quality of massage! Ashley is currently taking classes to receive her specialization in rehabilitation through the Academy of Orthopedic Massage.
